HOW TO CHOOSE A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

I have some questions you need to ask yourself before making a decision.

How do I know if you are the right photographer?

Let's find out. :)

Is it important for you to know the person who will TAKE the photos of you for 6-10-12 hours?

RULE NUMBER 1 - MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Imagine the situation where you suddenly meet your photographer minutes before you are supposed to get through the registry office door or, let's say, a church door. You are under so much stress already and just meeting the photographer who will take photos of you almost every step of your wedding. It does sound awkward, doesn't it?

I personally would love to know who will cover my wedding. Who's that person that is going to capture every moment of my big day? Who is that person I am supposed to expose all my feelings to and allow to be at my site for so many hours?

Hi! My name is Emilia, and I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer. Outdoor lover, mum of one, food enthusiast, dancer, a free spirit... I could add some more here however, you can check my ABOUT ME section under the link and find out a bit more :)

PORTFOLIO and style

RULE NUMBER 2 - REVIEW THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S work

I got many enquires from people who never even checked what kind of photos I do and if they like my style. There are many photographers out there who have different approaches to photography. Their editing may vary a lot. Some of you may love the way I edit and do photos, and some of you may not look for this style. It's totally fine. We are all different and have the right to have our tastes. So to avoid disappointment when you receive your wedding photos, please take a look at your PHOTOGRAPHER'S WORK.

If you would like to review my work to see if you are happy with my style, have a look at my SAMPLE WEDDING PORTFOLIO, where you can see not only the entire wedding day shoot but a post-wedding outdoor shoot as well. My style is light and airy, intimate and romantic. I am always looking for candid moments during your wedding to capture the spirit of the event.

Make sure you check my ENGAGEMENT PORTFOLIO as well :) Having an engagement shoot It's a great way to meet and feel your photographer before the wedding. If you want to know more about engagement photography, you can check my blog, where you will find plenty of valuable tips and knowledge about that as well.

WHAT ARE OTHERS SAYING?

RULE NUMBER 3 - CHECK THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S REVIEWS

A happy and satisfied customer determines if the photographer does their job well or even excellent. We have many people with great talent, but not all of them are reliable. Nowadays, every service is based on other people's opinions about someone's business. If you go on Google maps and plan to go to a new restaurant you've never been to, you will never choose a place with 1,2 or ever 3-star reviews. You want the best. The same applies to photographers.

Some of my reviews you can find just below or at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, they are on my Facebook page or Instagram stories under reviews! :)

She captured the magic!

Emilia was an absolute dream as a photographer. She made both my partner and I feel at ease by getting to know us before the shoot and generally being very warm-hearted. She really captured the mood and emotion of the day, giving us an abundance of 'artwork' that we will admire for years to come.

Her entire process was very professional, with an outstanding online gallery from which we could view our photos. This was like an added part of the experience for my partner and I to view the photos together in style and then choose which ones we would like to print.

Emilia asked me if there was any (body)part of myself that I didn't feel confident about and she took that into account, which meant that I was really able to love the photos and not feel self-conscious. We really felt like she cared and that she is passionate about what she does. As a result, her photos speak for themselves!

I'm really grateful and feel blessed that we had Emilia capture our special day.

High-quality life experience.

It was a wonderful wedding photoshoot with Emila. She helped us choose the best place, she worked with us all day long supporting us the posing for photos. We felt at ease in front of the camera lens. It was an incredible day with a good team. She also helped us create a beautiful commemorative album and gave us back the processed photos very quickly! Big massive thank you!

We will definitely repeat the photoshoot with Emilia :)

Is your PHOTOGRAPHER insured?

RULE NUMBER 4 - ask about liability and indemnity insurance

You probably haven't considered that, but do you know that some venues may only accept the photographer's entrance on-site if they have liability and indemnity insurance? This is because a photographer may accidentally, for example, bump into a wedding guest or a venue employee while taking photos and make someone fall and hurt themselves. Accidents happen everywhere. That's why insurance is crucial.

Believe me, so many photographers do not even think about having it.

If you asked me, I got that covered, so if your venue would like the papers from me, they will have them as soon as possible.

CONTRACT

rule number 5 - make sure you have a contract in place

A contract or a photography agreement is a must. Regardless of how much you don't like the sound of that, it protects you and your photographer.

When you have a contract in place you know exactly what's the photography service you are paying for. You are aware of all the fees and payment dates. You know who owns the right to the photos and of course, what happens if you cancel or if your photographer can't attend your wedding.

Feel free to request a contract. It's for everybody's comfort.

WEDDING OFFER

rule number 6 - does the photographer has a professional wedding offer

A professional photographer will always know their job. They know what the wedding day looks like and what to expect. The photographer should provide you with excellent service, guidance and of course the wedding offer.

Popular questions

Do we receive the unedited images?

As a photographer, I consider myself being an artist who does not like to show unfinished work. Editing is part of the job. So, unfortunately, I don’t offer all the unedited images only the edited ones included within your package.

How far do you travel?

As far as you want me to! As I love to explore new places travelling has never been an issue. Extra travel costs can be added on top, depending on how far from Barnsley you want me to travel.

When will we receive our photographs?

Editing any pictures takes plenty of time. The more pictures you choose, the more it takes. If it's a small shoot like a family, maternity, couple or small birthday party or hen party, then it takes up to two weeks. If it is a wedding, then up to four weeks. I do my best to deliver the photos as soon as possible, so sometimes, if I am not that busy, you can have them quicker.

What is the booking process?

Get in touch by filling out the wedding contact form. We can then discuss your needs through the phone or schedule a meeting in person or via zoom. I always try to meet in person as I can also show you my printed portfolio and some great albums we can create together :) After your enquiry is made I am asking for a deposit to secure the date which is £250 and we also sign the photography agreement which includes the service I provide for you.

Do you work alone?

Yes, I do work alone however if you would like a second shooter, especially during your wedding then I know some great photographers who will be happy to assist. Cost of adding a second shooter is £250. They will shoot with me during your wedding and then pass the photos to me so I can edit them and them deliver to you as a whole gallery.

Do you require a deposit?

I ask my clients for a £250 deposit if they want to secure a date and book me for their wedding day. The deposit is non-refundable if I am cancelled within 8 weeks before the wedding day.

Can I order prints and albums?

Of course! All your photographs are provided at full quality with no watermarks, which means you’re welcome to print them away. I do bespoke photo books, photo boxes, large format prints, crystal boards, USB drives and traditional albums. You can have a read about them just above under PRINTED PRODUCTS.

,,We've popped on Emilia's website through Hitched recommendations, we were searching for a wedding photographer, and Emilia's style was exactly what we were looking for. Our wedding was a small ceremony for 20 people, and we wanted this moment to be captured on photographes to have good memories to go back to, but what Emilia done was above and beyond! Starting with amazing contact prior to the wedding going through what we want and what we were expecting to the actual wedding day, she captured all the surroundings made an amazing impression not only on us but on family, friends and the owners. She made everyone feel comfortable and captured moments the way we didn't even think is possible. We've loved every movement of working with Emilia, nothing was to much, she made us feel relaxed and created great photos! And on top of that we've received our highlights in less then 24h which made the facebook annoucemnt even more elevated also rest of the photos followed soon after that which was very impressive taking in considiration that most of the times those are provided weeks after the wedding but thats not the case with Emilia! If you are thinking about booking any photoshoot with Emilia don't even hesitate! We can't recommend Emila enough!!!''
